What conventions do the trailer follow?
A majority of trailers for action films tend to have conventions such as explosions and crashes, fights and killing, whereby there are chase scenes with 'goodies and baddies' fighting against each other. However, in this trailer even those these conventions have been used, it is not entirely clear who the protagonist and antagonist are, as at the beginning of the trailer James Bond is shown watching and individual in his house, then firing a shot into the male character's house exploding the entire building. A possible reason as to why there is not a clear division of the antagonist and protagonist may be because 'James Bond' is a brand and the producers would expect that action movie lovers would already know about the film and know James Bond's positions in all sequels.
Montage editing is used in this trailer to create suspense to make the audience anticipate what might happen next. This is very effective because it makes the audience excited to find out more about the movie, effectively possibly resulting in the audience going to watch this movie.
Who is the target audience?
The primary audience is young males, 16-30 years old but Bond is popular with males and females in the 30-50 range. Many 40-50 year olds grew up with the original bond movies of the 60's and 70's along with shows like Mission Impossible and the Wild Wild West. Nevertheless, the classic secret agent fantasy character appeals to both teenagers and adults.
What is your personal response to the trailers?
SPECTRE is SKYFALL's equal. Some may disagree, but it's one of the better Bond films not just because of Craig, and a great female lead -- but because it combines everything that is good about Bond in the first place without the need of just gadgets to progress what happens in the storyline.
This film trailer has all he important script phrases in the trailer this gives the audience an idea of what will come. there are lots of fast visual images of guns and bullets flying around the screen and people getting shot. This brings a factor of death and destruction into the trailer which Lawrence does very well. President Snow has a message for katniss and then a min later she responds in a captivating way it shows the argument between them both which basically set the plot of the film. The trailer builds up the climax as shown by more and more action being shown quickly so the audience sees one thing and it stays in their mind. then the trailer ends with the music and that gives a huge suspense and makes us want to see it.
Who is the target audience?
The Hunger Games movies are based on a series of young adult novels.typically has an age range from about 12-18yrs -- although apparently more than half the total YA readership is over 18.
What is your personal response to the trailers?
Like watching paint dry. Boring to a mind-numbing degree. How many times can we see Katniss be horrified and/or emotionally distraught? Maybe the filmmakers thought they were adding depth to their characters. Well, they were wrong. Instead we, the audience, sit through one scene after another in which really nothing happens at all. This whole thing could have easily been compressed down to 40 minutes and then we could have had the rest of the book as the rest of the film. This felt very much like they were stretching it out so they could make two movies - which is the new thing to do in Hollywood with these franchises. Not good storytelling.
